Hands-on Residential Oil Burner Course
COURSE OVERVIEW
The subject matter will be technical in nature, with strong emphasis placed on oil burner service and troubleshooting system problems.
COURSE OUTLINE
Oil burners for heating systems: basic parts, operation, maintenance, performance. Combustion theory and combustion chambers, how oil burners work. Chimneys and drafts.. Combustion equipment and efficiency testing. Highlighting the Beckett flame retention burners and accessories. Service procedures during the seasonal maintenance, how to inspect and repair oil burners – homeowner basics, service technician basics, diagnosis, repair. Understanding, troubleshooting and correction of system problems: combustion, chimney, ignition system, safety control system, fuel unit and oil piping, motors, fans and couplings.
TARGET AUDIENCE
Housing, construction, building maintenance personnel. There will be a maximum number of 6 participants for this course.
TOOLS
Each student will receive $250 in tools in order to complete the hands-on component of this course. The cost of the tools is included in the total course fee.
