Distribution Swabbing

COURSE OVERVIEW

Common water quality problems that can occur in distribution systems can be categorized as biological (at the micro and macro levels), chemical/physical, and aesthetic. Many utilities have found that a program of regular mains cleaning to remove loose deposits and animal infestations has been of great assistance in maintaining water quality in distribution. A range of activities and solutions may be available, such as simple flushing of selected pipe lengths, swabbing, relining pipes with either structural or non-structural linings and mains renewal.
