Water Quality Analyst Certification
COURSE OVERVIEW
The water quality analyst course is intended for water laboratory technicians. Topics in the course include: science, microbiology, apparatus, safety, chlorine residuals, collections of samples, quality assurance and control, calibration, alkalinity, conductivity, hardness, dissolved solids, reagents, suspended solids, odour, math calculations, and Ontario regulations.
COURSE OUTLINE
- Introduction: need-to-know, conversion factors, equivalent measurements
- Regulations Water Treatment: water characteristics, treatment processes, waterborne diseases
- Lab Equipment: apparatus and use of glassware
- General Science Concepts: density and specific gravity, pressure and head, structure of matter, basic water chemistry
- Water Quality Analysis: chlorine, turbidity, pH, alkalinity, chlorine residual, hardness, colour, taste and odour, fluoride, accuracy and precision, solids (dissolved), dissolved oxygen, conductivity
- Water Treatment Math: formulae and conversions, dosage calculations Microbiology: quality control and sampling Lab Safety
